How it works

Delta Sleep–Inducing Peptide (DSIP) is an endogenous nonapeptide neuromodulator that influences sleep architecture, particularly slow-wave (delta) sleep, through modulation of hypothalamic and limbic neurotransmission. DSIP is proposed to regulate GABAergic, serotonergic, and NMDA receptor–associated pathways, stabilizing neuronal membrane excitability and reducing corticotropin-releasing hormone (CRH)–mediated stress signaling. It also affects neuroendocrine function, altering secretion of cortisol, growth hormone, and prolactin, and exhibits antioxidant and anti-stress properties that contribute to circadian rhythm regulation and central nervous system homeostasis.
